There are more than 10 cards.
I see do many different things that are not on the list. Is there a definition for other answers, beside dangerous or disturbed?
heh the last one looks like a grunt with explosions around him XD
I saw this:
1. a human, like an evil figure with his hands raised above his head and he has large outstretched bat wings and a cape.
2. two seriously fat bunnies with their front paws touching
3. two men wearing high heals carrying buckets and... poky groins...
4. an animal skull with large tusks.
5. a moth
6. a dragon
7. two hands giving "thumbs up"
8. two beetles, but only in the pink section.
9. a scary, angry face with red teeth.
10. two dolphins (pink section) four crabs (upper blue and gray section)
This really shouldn't be posted on the internet..
the rorschach test is a very important tool for psychiatrists and psychologists (i should know, i am one), and the surprise element is extremely important. if the person has already seen the images we really can't analyse their answers properly and the test becomes useless..
you really should remove this!!
not only that, there are no right or wrong answers, each person sees things differently.. we don't consider anyone "odd" or "dangerous" if they see different things, usually if someone only gives the "popular" answers we know they have seen the images before or they are being very cautious and "playing safe"..
Please consider removing this post, you're being quite inconsiderate to the people who work with this...
This has to be inaccurate. How much insight can there be in saying a blot of paint is an animal skin or moth? There is no possible observation except that the subject is a boring person with no imagination.
I call Shenanigans.
Last one is a woman in a bikini wearing a gold necklace and guns on her hips. So am I dangerous?
#4 is Godzilla from the ground in front of him, looking up!
#4 is Godzilla, from the ground in front of him, looking up.
@psy
Maybe you shouldn't rely on Jungian archetypes if you're worried about recognition.
Plus, the "real" Rorschach cards have been in movies, etc.
@last anonymous
It's all about how in-step you are with the general populace. It's not a sufficient tool, nor a necessary one, but it's valuable to some degree or another.
@blogger
nice post.
2: Bleeding Legless Gnomes giving each other a high five XD
psy-its the internet, people can do whatever they want(lol i mean almost)-second i fail to see how this test works to begin with-in my perspective-the question"what do you see?" will be answered with a personal response differing from person to person, this should not indicate a persons sanity or mental stability. unless of course for every picture they saw the same thing like somthing deranged. oh well just my oppinion...
Hey Psy-guy, why don't you lighten up and have some fun once in a while? Or is that not a good, healthy thing to do; psychologically speaking?
The test is bunk! All it is for is making imaginative people look like PROBLEMS to society.
To someone who has not been trained in administering and interpreting the Rorschach test, it would seem like it is "bunk", however, it is one of the most thoroughly studied psychological tests and in reality is a far different process than how it is portrayed in films, media, etc. Psychologists/psychiatrists rely on this test as a way of gathering very valuable insight and I agree with Psy that to have these images posted publicly hurts our efforts to help those in psychological distress. As an act of goodwill you should remove the images from your website.
As the creator of this blog, I make sure I monitor my content carefully. But something that is now available on the public domain, including Wikipedia, is not something I am going to pull from TGISFW unless I am ordered to do so by a court of law. And somehow, I can't see that happening. And considering how many people read TGISFW, I hardly think I am ruining anything for your profession. As so many readers have already said, lighten up dude.
#10 looks like needlenose pliers
Hmmm, I see Psy's point except that, in one of my psych classes, we were told that this testing method is not really useful. I think that was based on Weber or Reber but I have since forgotten.
Plate #9 is quite obviously female reproductive organs.
Plate #2 is those same organs after I've been at them.
I see you chose not to post my response about how just because others have posted the blots doesn't make it right for you to. I'll take that as confirmation that you know I'm right.
I'm sorry but I cannot "lighten up" when I see people playing around with the tools I work with like they're some sort of game.
This isn't a game, or one of those "personality tests" you see online, and it is certainly not that funny..
It is a useful test that needs to be administered and interpreted by someone with the correct training, not by random people on the internet who have no idea what they are talking about and think the test is supposed to tell you if you're crazy or not!
And I think it's really sad that you refuse to remove the post unless "the court of law tells you to"..
How about some respect? decency? common sense? I guess not..
well psy 1maybe you should give us an idea of how the test really works then and people will stop saying its "bunk"
2 again its the internet-if your a psychaiatrist or an average joe you should know that even if the person that posted this removed them that either a. he found them on the internet or B. these pictures could be already saved to hundreds of home computers, then posted on other websites, rinse wash repeat lol, its like a virus if you find it somwere your bound to find it again
@ kyle
i know they are all over the net.. i just got pissed because this is a humour site, not exactly the best place for things to be taken seriously, you know?
ideally these things would be kept private, in order to protect their validity, but with the internet nothing is kept a secret for long..
for that reason, i also won't "give you an idea of how it works",there is no way it can be explained in such short space and its use also requires some previous knowledge of psychoanalitical terms and concepts..
Personally I think the test has a lot of flaws, but from experience I have to admit it is a pretty valuable tool..
PS: I'm not a psychiatrist, i'm a psychologist :)
I don't know if this test is used, useless or whatnot, but I do know that the pictures, as well as the most common answers associated with each picture are posted on wikipedia. So I guess it doesn't matter if they are posted here.
#1 looks like 2 chihuahuas pulling apart a priest chewtoy
This is NOT the real test.
Three of the ten i got right... does that mean i'm only deranged seven tenths of the time?????????
On number 4 i saw a big guy on a small bicycle viewed from below. In my job i use a gun and a car as my tools, so please can all other guns and cars in the world be removed. It will ease my job a whole lot
#9 Looks like witches to me. Does that mean I'm a deranged witch?
Dude im a psych major and all I have to say is that this test is cool. I love what some of yall saw. it made me laugh. But some of yall need to chill. If you dont like what someones said just ignore it dont be dramatic and fight back. And to this psych person im sorry but being a psychologist doesnt mean ur opinions right. This being posted is harmless : P
plate 3 looks like a badger face...
psychoanalytic psychology is very obsolete....
Please, please, please. As a therapist I have to ask that you modify your explanation. There are no "right" or "wrong" answers and what a person sees when they look at this can be heavily influenced by their culture, education, training and personal experiences. For instance, someone trained in art may home in on the negative space and describe what they see there. For this reason a psychologist would never say, "Oh, you saw a bat or you didn't and that sums it all up". Also, many people's answers are descriptive, not just one word. They qualify and explain why or how they see what they see. Interpretation of a Rorschach can be very interesting if done by a trained expert, but it cannot be reduced to simply giving a "correct" answer or being written off as some kind of deviant. The human mind is much too unique and complex for that.
"I saw this:
1. a human, like an evil figure with his hands raised above his head and he has large outstretched bat wings and a cape."
Creepy. So did I. Except sometimes i see it as human, other times it seems more like a robot.
@psy The Rorschach test is one of the most discredited and debunked tests in all of psychology. To use it when much better, more reliable, and more valid tests, including the MMPI-2 and other empirically-derived scales, are available is irresponsible diagnosis and treatment. To continue to use the Rorschach is, in my opinion, a violation of the APA standards regarding outdated and outmoded tests.
The only worthwhile use remaining of the Rorschach test is as a tool to teach about the history of the field of psychology, an endeavor only helped by the public availability of the plates.
2) two red heads with hurt knees
4) boots on a display rack

10. Angry man being attacked by angry bugs
1. two chihuahuas eating a beetle.
If psy is a real shrink, I wouldn't want to see him/her in a professional sense. Too damn rigid and obviously some grandiose thinking going on. DON'T REMOVE THIS POST BLOGGER, it's awesome, and it's even cooler that someone would repeatedly ask you to remove it. This test is nothing more than aceptable voodoo B.S. The shrink thinks it enables him to read your mind. All 10 pictures were clearly vaginas. :P
all i see is my mother's vagina. except for plate 2. that looks like a midget punching my mothers vagina...
@ Psy
1) The real rorschach test is all black
2) Relying on the rorschach is incredibly unreliable. The vast majority of thereapists would [if they use it at all] use it merely as a settling down exercise, to relax people, as they expect the test with therapy.
Theres nothing wrong with useing it per se, but in isolation away from more conventional technique [CBT anyone?] is rediculous.
I must be stupid or retarded but aside from the one blotch that really does look like a butterfly, I really don't see anything in any of those other blotches.
They just look like messy spills of ink to me.
Psychology is bunk anyway! It's all based on what someone else said that studied what someone else said, etc. Is there an end to what "NORMAL" is? Seems as though this whole thing is devised to justify whomever needs it. Besides, if there are no right or wrong answers to this test, what does it matter anyway? Show them a picture of a puppy and ask them what they would like to do with it and go from there. If they say they want to eat it, clearly they belong to a different group of people. It doesn't mean they have a problem, they just aren't sheeple that would shop at Walmart! :)
Could it be that the test is used to see what kind of life an individual may have experienced?
after all, we all see what comes to mind first..... possibly something the picture reminds us of.
I am just guessing here, not sure. I think that it is too late for you to do anything about it anyway psy. sorry
I had to take a psychological assesment about 2 years ago and only 3 of my answers have changed
1: upside down viking helmet
2: 2 pigs giving each other high-fives
3: Preying Mantis
4: Cloverfield monster!!!
5: Moth
6: Electric Guitar
7: Women wearing first-nations head dress
8: I see the whole picture being a portrait of an upside-down puppy dog
9: 2 Dragons
10: daemons and bugs throwing objects into a volcano
Based on some of the analysis of what i saw 2 years ago, i was diagnosed with PTSD (post-tramatic-stress-disorder) i had to go over more then 1400 questions in my psychological assesment this is only 10. you cant asses some one with 10 questions, this is ridiculus.
Maybe the psychologist might want to talk to a psychiatrist. Sounds like he has a few issues of his own.
Your answers are wrong!
1# a headless ghost of a woman with deom wings, view from the back
2# a monk touching his own soul
3# twins, performing a magic trick of some kind
4# a deconstructed dragon, with no legs
5# a happy crocodile, and his friend
6# an organic space station on the verge of collapse
7# a librarian
8# a slouth climbing up a waterscaled river
9# one dying mantis staring into the eyes of his friend
10# the ultimate goal.
I'm not trying to be entertaining, or to be proved sane or insane. that is what I see.
This is absolutely incorrect. My mother is a psychologist, and has used the Rorschach inkblot test multiple times. There are no set answers, and it is complete and utter ignorance to say if someone doesn't say the answers listed, they are "odd" or "dangerous". The test is much more complicated than that, but the basic function, among many others, is to test for sociopathy, and a red flag for that is when the test subject does not see anything human, a human face, or a body in any of the inkblots.
Haha...I think this test is theoraetical. But I am 13 year old girl and this is what I see!
1. Two Angels
2. Two Lizards
3. Two People
4. A Freaky Looking Monster Thingy
5. A Bat
6. A Sword In The Stone! ;D
7. Two Horses Bucking
8. Lions On The Prowl
9. A Fountain Created For God
10. Spiders And Other Insects! D:
The guy at the top who claims to be a psychologist must be living in the 50's. The Rorshach is extremely subjective and highly innacurate as a diagnostic tool. It should be relegated to an "entertainment purposes Only" website for novelties like ouija boards and tarot cards. For heaven's sake. The Psychological profession has progressed leaps and bounds since the Rorshach was developed. It's still used but only on rare occasions and then it's only considered significant if what a client sees is very different than the "common" answers. Even then a series of questions and clarifiers are used to pin point what is actually going on. Also...it is Western/White specific. It makes no room for counter-culture/race/sexual identity or religious affiliation. Hence...it is not to be considered a stand alone diagnostic tool. I personally feel it to be so subjective it should be removed from the list of diagnostic tools mental health professionals use at all and relegated to the "Party-games" section at Spencer's gifts.
The first one looks like two bears dancing with ladies.
I thought alot of them looked like bears in some way.
!. It's a dragon face with horns jutting up from either sid eof it's nose.
2. It's a cat face with red ears and furry cheeks.
3. It's a badger!
4. Spooky Tree
5. A bug.
6. A plant growing out of some oddly shaped ground.
7. It's a castle window, looking outside.
8. Two pink muskrats cooking marshmallows at a campout.
9. THe clouds are on fire.
10. A futuristic eifel tower spanning a chasm.
psy is right. These images should only be accessible to licensed professional therapists ... and people who are capable of doing a google search for "Rorschach".
i just took projective
these are the real cards
they are not all black
there are no right or wrong answers
there are however answers that indicate very deep and information often times not presented on the conscious level
i read a lot of these comments and can see both sides, both of the clinician and the observer.
and from that i will add this,
i thought all of assessment measures were bogus before i started giving and studying them... the rorschach has been redone over fifty years by different teams of brilliant people. to say it lacks value definitively is just a case of not having had exposure to the test. i can say i have stood on both sides, and still stand on both sides,
to testify to that:
today while assessing someone i said, re: cognitive tests, these tests leave out the function of emotional response and astuteness, which is a huge piece of our intelligence. do i think cognitive tests are bunk? no. they are brilliant tests that test SOME measure (namely what it claims to) and compares it to other people that are the same age, very very well.
does it tell you how intelligent someone is, i dont think so. i think it tells you how intelligent a part of someone is, yes, but the abstract immeasurable stuff is left out, and i tend to really put a premium on imagination and creativity as measures of intelligence.
so with that said, i can be objective i think in the form of seeing both sides of the coin
getting back to the rorschach
i will add this last piece
i tested someone
i had no idea how to score the test for some time after testing her
i had an idea of who she was at the time of testing
her answers were given in a cavalier almost frivolous manner
when i finally scored it i realized that the
the test picked up her attitude toward testing and also picked up so many shockingly accurate details about her that i was a little freaked out. Of all the testing i have ever done, this test by far is the most profound, because it does just that what the cognitive and objective tests do not, it measures the abstract, non linear, deeper places of our psyche and presents them in an organized and classifiable interpretation.
if any of you who have ever scored a rorschach, you would get the opportunity to recognize the complexity of this test... i don't claim to understand it past a basic understanding but i do know to interpret one test, like fourteen responses, after a slew of mathematical problems,i would spend HOURS transferring all the data into pages and pages of results (like usually 40 ish pages) and usually only write a one or two page report from all of that work.
so i can understand, if you only saw the final interpretation, you could easily say, its bunk, sure i get it. but if you saw the INSANE amount of math that is required, its NUTS NUTS and then all the WORK that goes into generating the final piece of data used to write the report, i think perspectives might change.
so that testing, made a believer out of me, its an amazing test. it really is, is it flawless, no, what is? but is it an unsophisticated psychometric tool, absolutely not.

“This really shouldn't be posted on the internet..
the rorschach test is a very important tool for psychiatrists and psychologists (i should know, i am one)“
Dear psy.
It really scares me that your profession is so unscientific that it still thinks these tests are meaningful. As a former psychiatric patient I was absolutely dumbfounded by the amount of junk science in psychiatry: personality tests, inkblots, or god forbid freudian analysis.
Your whole profession needs to understand that if you are not making precise replicable measurements, and if you are not coming up with testable ideas, you are not doing science. I know you want to help people but there is very little data on the brain, and it is thus very difficult to form any foundation of real science on which to base treatments. It is practically impossible to find and correct the dis-regulation in a system you do not understand.
This is why:
a) Psychiatrists rarely “cure” anyone. If you press a psychiatrist on this point they will usually say “well it doesn't work like that”. Exactly the response you'd expect from a priest of any religion.
b) You can go from psychiatrist to psychiatrist and get a different diagnosis from each one. If you had a broken leg and every doc you went to gave you a different diagnosis you'd sue.
c) Psychiatrists always find ways to hide their ineffectiveness from themselves and their patients, either by blaming the patient for not following a treatment correctly, or assuming that everyone who doesn't come back is cured.
Psychiatry CAN be practiced scientifically but only be a psychiatrist that has the guts to:
* admit when their treatments are failing and tell the patient that they are out of tricks.
* follow patients long term to see if the treatments are any better than placebo.
* understand that a DSM diagnosis is not the same thing as a scientific identification of system dysregulation.
* follow the scientific method in your practice. If you have a hypothesis as to what the problem is, look for contrary data first.
But the vast majority of psychiatrists practice what I consider pseudo-science. They give people false hope, take their money, and don't cure them.
I saw;
1. Emerald Weapon (FFVII)
2. Despair
3. 2 Women
4. Satan, or other demon
5. Moth
6. Guitar
7. Joy
8. A mask
9. An angry beast
10. Narwhals
